We aim high. High scores, high achievers, high standards. But the studio is built around something most tutoring centres ignore: what comes after Year 12.
Our students leave with the marks they came for. They also leave with course counselling, university planning, mentorship, and the skills that don’t show up on a syllabus. How to think. How to work. How to actually enjoy the years their final two years are supposedly preparing them for.
I went through public school as Dux of Frankston High School and finished with a 99.40 ATAR. I wasn’t always going to. In Year 10 I wasn’t serious. In Year 11 a mentor convinced me my final two years mattered more than I thought, and I started doing the work.
Early in Year 11 I walked into a tutoring centre for the first time and the room was full of students who were months ahead of me. They were finishing past papers before the year had even begun. It was a reality check. I went home unmotivated, then I got to work.
That experience is the reason TheCampus exists. The right room shows you what is actually possible. It does not let you stay comfortable. Since then I have tutored more than 100 students across Year 7 to 12, helped one of them reach a 99.95 ATAR, and worked with hundreds more on the parts of school nobody talks about. The confidence. The study habits. The self-management.
Each term, every student gets a one-on-one course counselling session.
Fifteen to thirty minutes, one-on-one, no class around it. We sit down with the student to talk through career paths, university courses, short-term and long-term goals, and the honest questions about what comes next.
The idea is simple. When a student knows where they want to go, the day-to-day work gets a lot easier to organise. The tutors understand each student’s actual goal, not just the next SAC. And the studio gets to do the part of the job most tutoring centres don’t even think is part of the job.
VCE is a doorway, not the destination.
The studio is built by a student who recently sat the same exams. We cut the noise, replace it with a clear method, and tell students exactly what to do and exactly how to do it. We focus on independence, on the skills they will need at university, and on mentoring that thinks past Year 12.
